About Bethan Laker

Bethan Laker typically works with bold, wonky line, collage and print to produce charming, witty and colourful responses to everyday life.

She takes a particular pleasure in the little things, such as television adverts, vintage packaging, charity shop cutlery and period furniture. The loves of her life include typography, collage, cycling, cakes and her family (all of which feature in her work).

Not shy of a challenge, Bethan welcomes unusual requests. One of her favourite projects, commissioned by NewcastleGateshead Initiative, was to create a 100m tablecloth for a massive Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, held on the Swing Bridge across the River Tyne.

She is a founding member of Set of Drawers, a Newcastle-based illustration collective. She also facilitates illustration workshops for various agencies and age groups.
